My product is highly reflective (aluminum foil substrate). Can it be inspected?
Answer to question 3:
It may, but this depends on many factors:
- There are many types of light sources:
- Cold light with fiber optics lines
- Flash light for area camera applications
- LED light sources
- Fluorescent high-frequency light for low sensitivity applications
- Red / infrared sources
- And others
- Which side is the light applied to:
Through shining for transparent applications
Same side as the camera for reflective illumination
- Is the light diffused or focussed, is it applied at an angle, polarized, etc.?
All these factors have to be considered in order to choose the optimal illumination. While the type of the light source according to (1.) is more or less determined by the camera technology used, it is important to try different configurations by varying the parameters of (3.). As highly reflective materials are very difficult to deal with, we usually recommend a pre-study in our lab facilities to try out different concepts. Security features like holograms may require even more sophisticated approaches.
